At first, I traded Thai stocks and was always confused about why the market opening times aren’t the same every day 😅 After studying it, I found that the Thai stock market uses a randomized opening and closing system to prevent price manipulation. The pre-open period starts at 9:30 PM, and the market opening time is randomly set between 9:55 and 10:00, which isn’t the same every day.

The key period is from 10:00 to 12:30 PM, which is the morning trading session with the highest price volatility. If you want to profit from the market opening, you need to prepare before 9:30 PM. After the midday period from 12:30 to 14:00, the Thai stock market opens again for the afternoon session from 14:30 to 16:30. As for the pre-close before the market closes at 16:30, there is about 5 minutes.

Now I understand that knowing the market opening and closing times is extremely important for speculation, because each time period has different price movement characteristics. The morning opening session, in particular, is when morning news and pending orders from the previous day have the biggest impact. If you don’t know the exact times, you might miss great opportunities 💰
