I just finished reviewing a comparison of commodity trading platforms for 2026, and it's quite interesting. I've always wanted to find a reliable place to do commodities trading online, and I realized there are actually quite a few options to choose from.

From a cost perspective, platforms like Mitrade and Plus500, which charge zero commissions, are indeed attractive, mainly earning through spreads. For traders with high trading frequency, this can save a lot on costs. However, the fee structures of IG Group and Saxo Bank are a bit more complex, with spreads ranging from 0.1 to 2.0 points depending on the specific asset.

Interestingly, the positioning of different platforms varies quite a bit. Mitrade focuses on being beginner-friendly, offering demo accounts for practice and supporting 1:400 leverage for precious metals, which is good for those looking to quickly get started with commodities trading online. eToro is famous for social trading, allowing users to copy the trades of top traders, saving the effort of analyzing markets themselves. Plus500 and CMC Markets adopt a minimalist style, with clean interfaces but possibly less in-depth features.

Conversely, platforms like IG Group, Saxo Bank, and Interactive Brokers target experienced traders, offering futures, options, and advanced charting tools, but they are also more challenging for beginners. If you're just starting out with commodities trading, these might be a bit overwhelming.

In terms of asset range, CMC Markets supports over 100 commodities, offering the widest selection. The tradable assets include energy (crude oil, natural gas), precious metals (gold, silver, platinum), as well as industrial metals and agricultural products. This diversity can be helpful for traders looking to diversify their risk.

Overall, if you're a beginner wanting to start commodities trading online, Mitrade or AvaTrade might be more user-friendly options. If you already have some experience and want more tools and market depth, IG Group or CMC Markets could be better suited. The key is to choose based on your trading style and budget.
