I just asked myself whether the stock market is open today, so I checked the trading hours again 😅. It turns out many people are still really confused about this.
The Thai stock market has two trading sessions. The morning session opens around 10:00 AM (but there is a pre-opening period starting from 9:30 AM). Trading continues until 12:30 PM, then the market takes a break. The afternoon session opens at 2:00 PM, and around 2:30 PM, trading actually begins and runs until 4:30 PM. The closing time includes a pre-close period and a slightly random closing time.
What’s interesting is that the opening time isn’t fixed. There’s a random window of about 5 minutes to prevent price manipulation. So, today, is the stock market open? If it’s a regular business day, it’s definitely open. But the exact opening time depends on the actual random window. For us speculators, the opening period is very important because prices tend to be highly volatile.
