"Hope"

Hu Shi
I come from the mountains,
bringing orchids and grasses,
planted in a small garden,
hoping the flowers bloom early.
I look three times a day,
but the flowers pass by;
the orchids remain the same,
not a single bud in sight.
In the blink of an eye, autumn arrives,
moving the orchids into a warm room;
I cherish them morning and night,
never forgetting them each evening.
Looking forward to spring flowers blooming,
to fulfill my long-cherished wish;
the garden is full of clustered flowers,
adding many fragrances.
