#杨梅泡药事件冲击浙江杨梅市场# Hot Search Introduction

The trending topic originated from the exposure of Yangmei in Zhangzhou, Fujian, being illegally soaked in banned preservatives and “three-no” sweeteners (meaning it lacks production information/proper labeling, with no identifiable manufacturer and no production date, and no valid shelf-life/expiry information). Large quantities of the problematic Yangmei were then sold across Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai, sparking widespread consumer panic over food safety.

Although the implicated production area is in Fujian, Zhejiang—China’s main Yangmei producing region—was also swept up in the fallout before local Yangmei was released in a concentrated way: market sales fell, wholesale prices dropped sharply, many merchants paused purchasing, and consumer overall trust in Yangmei declined.

Multiple places across Zhejiang then launched special inspections. So far, no cases of local Yangmei being illegally soaked in drugs have been found. Fruit growers and markets have also proven their innocence through traceability and testing, while each region has tightened controls to prevent problematic Yangmei from outside the province from entering. This incident has also prompted public discussion about whether cross-regional rumors can wrongly harm agricultural products, as well as about the oversight of freshness additives and preservatives.
