Hey, I found out that free AI has evolved a lot. Like, a few years ago you needed serious money to access decent tools. Nowadays, anyone can use a quality artificial intelligence website for free.
I started testing ChatGPT because basically everyone uses it. The free version is now running GPT-5 (with limits, of course), but it still works well for writing, generating basic images, or programming something. After hitting the limit, it switches to the mini version, which is faster. Nothing bad, honestly.
But then I discovered Google Gemini, and it changes quite a bit. The key difference here is that it pulls data from the web in real time, so the answers are up-to-date. If you're researching something recent, Gemini works better than ChatGPT. It’s integrated with Gmail, Drive, all of Google’s services.
Then I tried DeepSeek out of curiosity, and I was surprised. It’s fast, handles complex calculations and explanations well. It seems they focus on efficiency rather than marketing. For math and logic, I recommend testing it.
Now, if you want to work with video, Lumen5 is the way to go. It automatically turns text into video. There’s a limit on projects in the free plan (about 5 videos per month), but the quality is good. Descript is also worth it for podcasters or video creators — it edits through text, removes noise, and is very intuitive.
For students, SciSpace is pure gold. You upload a scientific article there, and it explains it in a way that makes sense. ChatPDF is also a lifesaver — any PDF becomes a conversation, you ask questions and it responds.
Regarding images, ChatGPT generates basic ones, NightCafe offers more creative styles with daily credits. Midjourney used to be free but now it’s paid. This Person Does Not Exist still remains completely free and generates realistic faces that don’t exist — useful for mockups.
The truth is that combining ChatGPT + Gemini + DeepSeek covers almost everything in text. For images, ChatGPT and NightCafe work. For video and productivity, Lumen5 and Descript do a great job. A well-chosen AI website saves time and money.
What’s cool is that this has democratized a lot. Before, you needed expensive subscriptions across multiple platforms. Now any freelancer, student, or small business owner can use tools that rival professional software. Productivity has skyrocketed.
If you’re just starting out, begin with ChatGPT and Gemini. Then explore as needed. Each has its niche. And best of all: you don’t have to spend anything to get started.
