Just looked up what time the Thai stock market closes in the evening because I want to know when I should finish trading. It turns out this is quite important for stock speculators because the opening and closing times are usually highly volatile.
So I gathered some information: the Thai stock market is divided into two sessions, morning and afternoon. The morning session opens from 9:55 to 10:00 AM and trades until 12:30 PM. After that, the market pauses until 2:00 PM.
As for the afternoon session, which many people are interested in, the Thai stocks close at what time? Trading starts again from 2:30 PM until 4:30 PM. Then there is a pre-close period from 4:30 to 4:35 PM, and a random closing time between 4:35 and 4:40 PM, with the actual close time randomly within this window.
The randomization of open and close times is just to prevent price manipulation because if the times were fixed, people could manipulate the opening and closing prices. That’s why the closing time of the Thai stock market isn’t fixed. The most important times are at market open and close because prices are highly volatile, making these prime opportunities for speculators.
