Tencent launches AI Design Agent platform Ardot, enabling one-click generation of editable design drafts.
Author | Huang Yu
Tencent is continuously exploring more real-world scenarios for Agent deployment.
On May 18th, Tencent launched a new AI design agent collaboration platform, Ardot.
It is reported that Ardot is a UI/UX design tool supporting real-time collaboration among multiple users, mainly targeting designers and product managers; covering the entire software design process from visual design, code delivery, team collaboration, to asset circulation.
Clearly, Tencent is aiming at enterprise-level collaboration scenarios with high demand density and strong willingness to pay.
Through Ardot, users can describe interface requirements in natural language, and Ardot generates editable initial design drafts in real-time stream, with one-click code conversion. It also supports direct import of Figma files, fully preserving original layout, styles, and components. After generation, Ardot also supports precise local UI modifications.
In the existing internet product design workflow, there are many repetitive tasks and collaboration friction for product managers, UI/UX designers, and development teams, such as time-consuming prototyping, lengthy design reviews, and subpar development fidelity.
Ardot targets exactly these pain points.
According to Wall Street Jingwei, Ardot was developed by Tencent Cloud’s CodeBuddy team.
With the advent of the Agent era, the CodeBuddy team can be said to be Tencent’s pioneer in Agent products today.
Since last year, the CodeBuddy team has launched CodeBuddy and WorkBuddy. Both products are currently Tencent’s key Agent offerings.
It is also reported that Ardot is built on the underlying architecture of WorkBuddy/CodeBuddy.
Because of this, Ardot has a “code-friendly” gene, enabling seamless connection between design and code through MCP (Model Context Protocol).
Developers can extract design context into the IDE: variables, components, layout data can be directly imported into the development environment to read, create, and modify design files, converting design drafts and context into code with one click, seamlessly linking with CodeBuddy, and also compatible with MCP-supported agents like WorkBuddy, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.
In this wave of lobster farming frenzy, Tencent can be said to be the most proactive company.
Tencent Chairman and CEO Ma Huateng personally promoted Tencent’s lobster package earlier, saying “self-developed lobsters, local lobsters, cloud lobsters, enterprise lobsters, cloud desktop lobsters, security isolation lobsters, cloud security, knowledge base… and a batch of products are coming one after another.”
Tencent Senior Executive Vice President and CEO of Cloud and Smart Industries Group, Tang Daosheng, also stated that the current AI application paradigm is transitioning from “Chatbot” to “AI Agent.” In the future, every individual and enterprise will be able to quickly build their own intelligent agent applications using standardized tools, jointly constructing a decentralized and highly prosperous Agent ecosystem.
After several years of technological and product investment, AI is no longer just about whose model is more powerful or whose entry is more popular, but about answering a more practical question: when will it bring scalable commercial revenue to enterprises?
Recently, during the earnings call, Tencent management also shared their thoughts on AI product commercialization.
Tencent President Liu Ciping said that the commercialization of AI products targeting individual users faces relatively high difficulty. At the same time, unlike traditional internet products, AI services cannot infinitely expand at extremely low marginal costs; each model invocation and service delivery incurs actual costs.
Therefore, the industry can no longer simply follow the logic of “maximizing scale and DAU” from the internet era. In Liu Ciping’s view, identifying high-value scenarios is at least as important as user scale, or even more so, which has become a new consideration in Tencent’s product deployment and model collaborative design.
