A relative's child used to work as an assistant broadcaster at a live streaming company, mainly shouting "123" commands in the live room to promote products. This year, they couldn't avoid layoffs and have been looking for a job everywhere lately.

In the past, the e-commerce industry in Hangzhou was incredibly prosperous, with positions like hosts, customer service, editors, cameramen, operations, and floor managers everywhere. Applying to any of these roles had a good chance, and the entry barrier was low, making employment very easy.
But now, the market has completely changed. All sizes of e-commerce companies are shrinking and cutting departments. Previously, Tmall, JD.com, and Pinduoduo each had their own dedicated operations teams, but now they have all merged into one team, with one person doing the work of several. The wave of layoffs has been continuous.
I can't help but wonder, has the golden era where anyone could easily earn money in e-commerce and job opportunities were abundant come to an end? Are the people doing e-commerce live streaming around you also finding it hard to get jobs now?
