Aptos Accelerates Institutional Trading and AI-Focused Blockchain Development with $50 Million in Funding

Aptos has focused on trading systems and AI development with a $50 million investment.

The investment is directed towards internal products, new protocol functions, privacy research, and external partners.

A record block time of 28 ms was achieved on the network; significant progress was made in system speed.

But the main focus is on increasing institutional participation in the ecosystem, and encrypted mempool voting continues.

With their newly announced $50 million investment, they have accelerated technological developments for their own blockchain ecosystem. This budget is directly allocated to a fund dedicated to protocol infrastructure, new products, advanced research, and partners within the ecosystem.

Aptos' investment plan prioritizes institutional-level trading infrastructures and autonomous AI applications running on the blockchain. This approach targets specific technological gains at the protocol level, rather than simply providing general grants to the ecosystem as in previous periods.

They have allocated $50 million to strengthen trading systems and AI infrastructures on the blockchain. "Protocol development was distributed across four main areas, including internal products, research into zero-knowledge proofs, and external funding."

Aptos also reached the lowest average block time in blockchain history on May 12, 2026, at 28 milliseconds. The project is making ambitious progress in terms of speed and transaction capacity.
Aptos's $50 million funding is grouped under four main headings. First, investments will be made in existing products such as Decibel, a decentralized exchange with perpetual futures and spot market features. Also included in this group is Shelby, a protocol designed for AI agents with high data readability needs.

Second, protocol-level improvements are supported. Investment areas include encrypted mempools, Financial Information enabling inter-exchange communication, and a system facilitating trading across multiple platforms. These technologies will allow developers to extract data from the market and trade on different exchanges.

The third focus is on research into zero-knowledge proof-of-work circuit compilers. These compilers pave the way for the development of new privacy-focused functionalities on the network and enhance long-term security.

Finally, trading companies and AI teams wishing to participate in the Aptos ecosystem through external investment funding will also be supported. Institutional participants have requirements such as in-depth order books, MEV protection, and integration with existing systems. AI agents, on the other hand, seek suitable data structures with low transaction times and costs.
