On April 30, the Japan Exchange Group stated that if legal revisions permit, exchange-traded funds tracking cryptocurrencies could be listed as early as next year. Hiromi Yamaji, CEO of JPX, the operator of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, said, “Asset management companies have shown strong interest in creating cryptocurrency ETF products. Once the legislation and tax treatment are clarified, we are ready to proceed with this work.” JPX also noted that if progress is delayed, the listing could be postponed until 2028.
