Just spent way too much time comparing commodities trading platforms and honestly, there's way more options than I thought. Been looking into which platform for trading commodities actually makes sense for someone not trying to get rekt on fees.
So here's what I found - Mitrade seems solid if you want something straightforward. No commission, just spreads, and you can do leverage up to 1:200 on precious metals. The demo account is actually useful for testing before you throw real money at it. eToro's whole copy trading thing is interesting if you want to mirror what other traders are doing, but their spreads are higher and they hit you with withdrawal fees which is annoying.
Plus500 keeps it simple with no commissions, just spreads. IG Group and CMC Markets are more for people who actually know what they're doing - tons of research tools but steeper learning curve. If you're serious about this, Interactive Brokers gives you direct access to global markets but it's definitely not beginner-friendly.
The real question is what you're actually trying to trade. Energy stuff like oil swings hard because of geopolitical stuff and OPEC decisions. Gold and silver are the safe plays when everything else is chaotic. Then there's agricultural commodities which most people sleep on but they move based on weather and global policy.
Anyone here actually using these platforms? Curious if the fees really matter as much as execution speed or if I'm overthinking this.
