I've just noticed that many people are still confused about the stock suffix symbols in the trading app. What do those mean? This is a very common question. Those strange abbreviations are not just random symbols, but have important meanings that you should know before making buy or sell decisions.
Let's start with the basics. CA stands for Corporate Action, which means that the stock is about to undergo some changes in the upcoming week. You can click to see what it is and when it will happen. The abbreviation shows what CA in stocks is and how it relates to shareholders' benefits.
The X series symbols indicate that investors will not receive certain rights. XD means no dividend payout for that round, but if you hold the stock until the next XD, you will receive the dividend in the next round. XM means no voting rights at the shareholders' meeting. XR indicates no rights to subscribe for new shares, which is a fundraising method for the company's growth. XW means no rights to buy warrants or subsidiary shares. There are many others like XI, XT, XN, XB, each indicating different rights that will not be received.
The T series symbols are all different. Stocks ending with T show that the price has risen significantly and speculation is high. T1 means it must be purchased with a Cash Balance account only. T2 is a higher level, prohibiting using the stock as collateral. T3 is the highest level; besides the above restrictions, immediate short selling is also prohibited, and you must wait until the next day. This helps prevent multiple trades within the same day.
From personal experience, understanding what CA in stocks means and other symbols helps me make better decisions. H indicates a temporary trading halt for one round. SP means a halt for more than one round, caused by leaked news that the company has not yet reported. NP means the company has something to report to the market. NC indicates the company might be delisted. ST is for price stabilization. C is a warning that the company has financial problems.
Most importantly, knowing what these abbreviations mean will help you avoid making investment decisions without understanding. This article covers the basics, but if you encounter other symbols you don't understand, try clicking for more details in your trading app.
