Gold Financial News reports that on May 18, according to data obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, the Brazilian Federal Police seized approximately $14 million worth of crypto assets related to crimes in 2025, a more than sixfold increase from 2024.
The related assets involve cases such as drug trafficking, cybercrime, environmental crimes, and money laundering, with the police seizing Bitcoin and stablecoins during investigations into Pix infrastructure hacking and money laundering organizations.
The report also notes that the approximately $14 million accounts for only a small portion of Brazil’s reported crypto trading volume, with Brazil reporting about $100 billion in crypto transactions to tax authorities last year.
