Tonight after finishing work, I went to see "Love Letter to Grandma." As a Chaoshan person, I was truly deeply touched after watching it, tears kept flowing uncontrollably 🥹. When my grandma was still alive, she told me many stories about overseas Chinese relatives. Many families here in Chaoshan had relatives who migrated to Nanyang in the past, going to Siam (now Thailand) and Malaysia. Including my ancestors, who had relatives at the time, forced to leave their homeland by sea to escape war and famine.
