Man, I found something really interesting about the richest players in the world, and it's not who we think. Like, everyone imagines it's Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi, but the actual richest guy is Faiq Bolkiah, nephew of the Sultan of Brunei, with a fortune of about 20 billion dollars. But that's inheritance, it doesn't come from football.

Now, if we talk about players who really got rich by playing football, then it’s different. Mathieu Flamini, former Arsenal player, became a billionaire after leaving football by founding a bioproducts company. Like, he earned more outside the field than on it. Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, those built their fortunes through their careers — Ronaldo with global sponsorships, hotels, gyms, while Messi was more discreet but also accumulated a lot.

In 2025, salaries got crazy. Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr earning 220 million a year, Neymar at Al-Hilal with 80 million on the field plus 30 off it. Benzema also jumped on this Saudi wave. And there are things that go unnoticed: market value is another story. Haaland and Vinícius Jr. are each worth 200 million euros, Bellingham and Mbappé at 180 million.

The craziest part is that the club owners are even richer. Saudi Arabia’s PIF fund controls Newcastle and Al-Hilal with 700 billion. Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United — all in the hands of billionaires pouring endless money in. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, all worth billions.

In other words, the richest players in the world are in an ecosystem where football has become pure business. It’s no longer just passion, it’s a real industry. Those inside make a lot, but those outside make even more.
