There are still people asking what time the Thai stock market opens. At first, I thought it was simple, but when I looked into the details, it’s quite complicated. The Thai stock market doesn’t open straightforwardly; there are several steps before the actual trading session.
Simply put, in the morning, the Thai stock market starts at 9:30 AM with a pre-open period that lasts 25 minutes, followed by a random 5-minute period to prevent price manipulation. Then, the actual trading begins at 10:00 AM and continues until 12:30 PM. In the afternoon, the stock market reopens at 2:00 PM with the same process, and the actual trading runs from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM before closing.
For frequent traders, knowing the Thai stock market opening times is very important because the initial moments after the market opens are usually highly volatile. Prices respond to pending news from the closing period. If you understand the opening times well, you won’t miss good trading opportunities because we can only trade during market hours, not all the time.
