Is ETH mining still feasible? I just researched this topic thoroughly and want to share it with everyone.

First, it’s important to understand: since the The Merge event on September 15, 2022, Ethereum has transitioned from the PoW algorithm to PoS, meaning traditional ETH mining has ended. At that time, about 1 million miners with equipment worth over $10 billion faced a "loss of direction" situation. Many switched to mining ETC (Ethereum Classic) to salvage their investments.

But if you're still interested in ETH mining guides or want to understand how it used to work, I’ll explain briefly.

The method of mining ETH used to be very simple: using GPUs (graphics cards) or ASICs to solve complex mathematical equations. When successfully solved, miners received 2 ETH as a reward. However, the costs were significant. For example, an 8-card RX470 8GB GPU setup costs about 16 million VND, consumes 1100W of electricity, and yields only about 135,000 VND in profit per day (after electricity and pool fees). Additionally, there are maintenance costs, wallet storage, and the risk of ETH price drops.

Popular mining rigs at that time included: AMD Radeon R9 292X2 (46 MH/s), NVIDIA GTX 1070 (30 MH/s), or AMD Radeon RX 480 (25 MH/s, the cheapest). For software, ETHminer, Claymore, CGMiner were major names.

Now, if you want to profit from ETH, there are other ways:

1. Buying and selling spot on exchanges – but be aware of legal considerations
2. CFD trading – no need to hold coins, just profit from price differences
3. Staking – depositing ETH into pools to earn returns, similar to savings accounts
4. Free mining via mobile apps – but the profits are minimal, mainly for entertainment

Current ETH mining guides are mostly educational about history. If you truly want to participate in crypto, consider staking or trading instead of mining. The current ETH price is around $2.19k (as of May 2026), significantly higher than previous years.

In summary: traditional ETH mining is no longer possible, but there are many other ways to profit from Ethereum if you're interested.
