Why does China still have high bride prices even now?

It’s because both sides are poor at the bottom.
If either side had money, there wouldn’t be such a thing as high bride price.
If the woman has money, she won’t care about that amount—just treat the girl well.
If the man has money, the woman wouldn’t dare ask for bride price; she’s afraid you’ll lose interest in her later and she won’t be able to get you back.
