Just spent way too much time comparing commodities trading platforms and honestly, the market's gotten pretty crowded. If you're looking to get into commodities trading, there's definitely no shortage of options now in 2026.
So here's what I found - most of these platforms let you trade through CFDs, which means you don't actually own the underlying assets. That's actually pretty convenient if you ask me, especially when you want to go long or short depending on what the market's doing. The big names everyone mentions are Mitrade, eToro, Plus500, and a few others, and they all have their own thing going on.
What surprised me is how spread out the fee structures are. Some charge commissions, others just take spreads. Mitrade seems to keep things transparent with spreads only, no hidden stuff. eToro's got that whole social trading angle where you can copy other traders, which could be useful if you're just starting out. Plus500 keeps it simple too.
For commodities trading, you've got energy stuff like oil and natural gas, precious metals if you want that safe-haven vibe, industrial metals for economic plays, and even agricultural commodities. The platforms I looked at support most of these, though some have way more options than others.
If you're a beginner, Mitrade and AvaTrade seem more approachable. If you're more experienced and want advanced tools, IG Group or CMC Markets have better charting and analytics. Interactive Brokers is solid if you're doing high volume and don't mind the complexity.
Honestly, picking between them really depends on what you're trying to do. Are you a casual trader or serious about this? Do you want simplicity or advanced features? The regulatory stuff checks out across the board, so that's not really the differentiator anymore.
Anyone else trading commodities these days? Curious what platform you're using and if you're happy with it.
