DAY 1 OF 10 | RESET YOUR INTENTION
Wallahi, the best days of the whole year just started.
The Prophet SAW said: "There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." [Bukhari]
Scholars explain this further. Ibn Abbas (RA), who narrated this hadith, said a man asked the Prophet SAW: "Not even jihad in the path of Allah?" The Prophet SAW replied: "Not even jihad in the path of Allah, except for a man who goes out with his life and his wealth and returns with neither." [Bukhari]
These 10 days of Dhul Hijjah hold all the great acts of worship at once: Salah, Sawm, Sadaqah, Dhikr, and Hajj. No other time of year brings all of them together like this.
And today, Day 1, is about one thing: your Niyyah. Your intention.
The Prophet SAW said: "Actions are only by intentions, and every person will have only what they intended." [Bukhari and Muslim]
Before you open your feed this morning, before you make tea, before anything else, stop and say: "Ya Allah, I give You these next 10 days completely."
That single moment of turning your heart toward Allah can change everything that follows.
Your Day 1 Action Plan:
Pray all 5 Salah on time today
Read 2 pages of Qur'an
Say Astaghfirullah 100 times
Give Sadaqah today, even a small amount counts
About Tawbah: it is not just words of apology. It means genuine regret, stopping the sin, and firm resolve not to return to it. Allah says in the Qur'an: "Indeed, Allah loves those who constantly repent and loves those who purify themselves." [Al-Baqarah: 222]
Your Dhikr for Day 1:
اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ (Allahu Akbar)
"Allah is the Greatest"
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ (Alhamdulillah)
"All praise belongs to Allah"
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ (La ilaha illallah)
"There is no god worthy of worshipexcept Allah"
The Special Takbeer of Dhul Hijjah — say this throughout all 10 days:
اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، وَلِلَّهِ الْحَمْدُ
"Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, there is no god except Allah, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, and to Allah belongs all praise."
Ibn Umar and Abu Hurayrah (RA) used to go out to the marketplace during these 10 days, saying this Takbeer out loud, and the people around them would say it after them. [Bukhari] That is how seriously the Sahabah treated these days.
Say it at home. Say it while cooking. Say it on your way somewhere. Fill these days with it.
