Thailand conducts a raid on an illegal Bitcoin mining site, with electricity losses exceeding $80k

Mars Finance News, according to Khaosod English reports, Thai authorities conducted a sudden raid on a suspected illegal Bitcoin mining site. Due to abnormally high electricity consumption causing surrounding building cables to overheat and melt, law enforcement carried out a surprise search of a four-story commercial building. The investigation found that the site allegedly illegally connected to the main power grid, supplying power to multiple Bitcoin mining machines on the fourth floor, resulting in an estimated power loss of over $80k, while its registered monthly electricity bill was only about $11. Currently, the police have seized the relevant mining equipment and are conducting further investigations on the involved personnel.
