I'm seeing a lot of people still spending money on expensive AI software when there are a huge number of really good free artificial intelligence websites available. Seriously, the evolution in this space by 2026 is insane.
I've started testing quite a few tools lately and decided to share what I found most useful. ChatGPT remains the gold standard for those who want a versatile tool. The free version now uses GPT-5 models (with a message limit, but nothing crazy), and after hitting the limit, it switches to the mini model which is faster. You can do almost everything: write, generate basic images, code, summarize texts. If you want more power, pay $20/month.
Now, if you use Google Workspace a lot, Gemini is kind of the obvious choice. It works integrated with Gmail, Docs, Drive, and everything else. The real advantage is that it pulls updated web data in real time, which is essential for quick research. It also generates images, but with a daily limit.
There's one gaining strength: DeepSeek. It's not as famous as the other two, but the quality is surprising, and the best part is that it's practically free. Excellent for those working with analysis, math, or needing detailed explanations. The web version is completely free.
For video creators, Lumen5 is a game changer. It transforms an article into a ready-to-post social media video in minutes. It has a project limit on the free plan, but for testing, it's very worth it. It exports with a watermark, but it works.
If you're a student or researcher, SciSpace is a lifesaver. Upload a complex article, and it explains, summarizes, and simplifies everything. It has a paid plan, but the free version already offers a lot.
For podcast or video editing, Descript is interesting. Edits by text, transcribes automatically, removes noise. It's not perfect on the free plan, but it works well to start.
ChatPDF is simple but effective: upload a PDF and chat with it. Great for contracts, reports, long documents.
In the image space, there's This Person Does Not Exist, which generates realistic faces of people who don't exist (no copyright issues). Completely free, no registration needed.
Midjourney we know no longer has a free version. But for those wanting something similar without spending, NightCafe offers daily credits to generate images in various artistic styles.
Honestly, if you want to cover everything without spending anything, combine ChatGPT + Gemini + DeepSeek for text, use ChatGPT or NightCafe for images, and Lumen5 + Descript for video. With this, you can practically do anything you need.
The cool thing is that these AI websites have evolved so much that now anyone can produce quality content without investing. A few years ago, that was a privilege of big companies. Nowadays, anyone creates more, better, and faster using these free tools. It's definitely worth exploring.
