I'm noticing that many people still think that quality AI tools only exist at high prices. But honestly, by 2026, the situation has changed quite a bit. Nowadays, you can find free artificial intelligence websites that do things that a few years ago would have cost a lot of money.
Starting with the obvious: ChatGPT remains the most versatile tool I know. The free version is now using GPT-5 models (with some limits, like 10 messages every 5 hours), but after hitting the limit, you can use the unlimited mini version. You can write, generate basic images, program, and make summaries. If you want more speed and higher limits, then the $20 per month Plus is worth considering.
Google's Gemini is another very cool option, especially if you're already within their ecosystem. The advantage is that it pulls real-time updated data from the web, which is very useful for research. It integrates directly with Gmail, Docs, and Drive. The free version is quite capable.
Now, if you want something very fast and efficient, DeepSeek impresses. It uses a business model focused on low cost, and the result is that you can use it unlimitedly on their site. Great for calculations, explanations, and programming.
For those working with video, Lumen5 is practically magical. You upload an article or script, and it transforms it into a social media-ready video. The free version allows creating about 5 videos per month, but it adds a watermark. Paid plans start at $19.
If you're a student or researcher, SciSpace is your friend. It takes complex scientific articles and explains them in a way you understand. Unlimited uploads in the free version, with unlimited explanations as well.
For audio and video editing, Descript changes the game. You edit through the transcript text, automatically remove noise, and delete entire segments just by selecting. Very creative.
There's also ChatPDF, which is simple but very useful: you upload a PDF and chat with it, asking questions about the content. No registration required, unlimited conversations in the free version.
For image generation, Google Gemini and NightCafe work well in the free version. Unfortunately, Midjourney discontinued the free plan; now it's only subscription-based (starting at $10 per month).
There's also Esta Pessoa Não Existe, which generates photos of people who don't exist, completely free and unlimited. Very useful for mockups and design testing.
The truth is, these free AI websites cover almost everything you need. For text, the combination of ChatGPT, Gemini, and DeepSeek is almost unbeatable. For images, Gemini and NightCafe do well. For videos, Lumen5 and Descript complete the package.
The cool part is that you don't need to spend anything to get started. With these free tools, anyone can produce quality content, study better, and automate tasks. It's like having access to tools that big companies paid a lot of money to use. The game has really changed.
