The reason for the decline in GPT-5.5's capabilities in Codex has been identified, OpenAI has completed the fix and reset the usage limits.
According to Beating Monitoring, OpenAI Codex director Tibo confirmed today that the team has identified and fixed two vulnerabilities, which are the reasons for the degraded performance of GPT-5.5 in the Codex programming agent over the past two days. The system has now fully recovered. To compensate developers, OpenAI will reset all users’ usage limits tonight.
In the past 48 hours, some users have continuously reported a decline in GPT-5.5’s capabilities within Codex. Before pinpointing these two specific issues, the official investigation initially did not reach definitive conclusions. This afternoon, the latest monitoring metrics showed that all services have stabilized again.
