Just spent way too much time comparing commodity trading platforms and honestly there's a lot more options than I thought. Everyone asks which one's best but it really depends on what you're after, you know? Some are great for beginners, others are built for people who live and breathe trading.
I noticed Mitrade keeps popping up in conversations - apparently it's been around since 2011 and people like that you can trade oil, gold, natural gas without actually owning them. The spreads are transparent and you get leverage up to 1:400 on certain metals, which is pretty wild. Plus they have a demo account so you can test things out first. eToro's another one everyone mentions because of that copy trading feature where you can literally mirror what experienced traders are doing - handy if you're just starting out.
Then there's the more complex stuff. Plus500 keeps things simple with no commissions, just spreads. IG Group has insane research tools if you're into deep analysis. CMC Markets and Saxo Bank are for people who want advanced charting and don't mind paying a bit more. Interactive Brokers is basically for professionals who want direct access to global markets and can handle the learning curve.
What surprised me is how different the commodity trading platforms are in terms of fees. Some charge per lot, others just use spreads. And the commodities available range from like 15 to over 100 depending on the platform. Most let you trade energy stuff like oil, precious metals like gold and silver, industrial metals, and agricultural products.
I'm still figuring out which platform fits my style. Depends if you want something beginner-friendly or if you're ready for the advanced tools. The whole commodity trading scene is way bigger than I realized.
