I just remembered that I wasn't clear about the exact schedule of the Madrid Stock Exchange and started researching. It turns out it opens at 9:00 am and closes at 5:30 pm from Monday to Friday. Before that, there's an opening auction starting at 8:30 am, and after the close, there's another small auction until 5:35 pm. Quite interesting that the Madrid stock market has this closing schedule with those auction periods, honestly.
What I didn't know is that the Madrid Stock Exchange is actually part of a larger system called SIBE that coordinates four Spanish exchanges. Apparently, it's where all the major Spanish companies like BBVA, Santander, and Inditex are listed. The IBEX 35 index is based on the 35 most important stocks from there.
It caught my attention that they close on weekends, obviously, but they also have specific holidays. For 2025, they had several days without trading. If someone wants to trade during Madrid stock market closing hours or plan their trades, they need to keep in mind that the schedule is quite limited compared to other markets that operate 24/7. Does anyone here trade regularly on the Spanish stock exchange, or is it more crypto?
