U.S. Energy Inflation Remains High in April

On May 12, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the seasonally adjusted energy inflation in the U.S. increased by 3.8% month-on-month in April, down from a 10.9% increase in March. Specifically, the inflation for energy commodities rose by 5.6%, compared to 21.3% previously, while gasoline inflation increased by 5.4%, down from 21.2%, and fuel oil inflation rose by 5.8%, previously at 30.7%. Year-on-year, the unadjusted energy inflation in April increased by 17.9%, up from 12.5% in March. This includes a 29.2% increase in energy commodities inflation, a 28.4% increase in gasoline inflation, and a 54.3% increase in fuel oil inflation. (Jinshi)
