Been looking into commodities trading platforms lately and honestly, there's way more options than I expected. If you're thinking about trading stuff like oil, gold, or agricultural commodities, the platform you pick really matters because fees and features vary a lot.
I ended up comparing like 8 different commodities trading platforms and some clear winners emerged. Mitrade stood out mainly because their spreads are transparent with no hidden commissions, and you can trade with up to 1:200 leverage on precious metals. Plus their demo account lets you test everything before risking real money. eToro's interesting if you're new because you can literally copy what experienced traders are doing. Not everyone's cup of tea but it works for some people.
The thing about commodities trading platforms is they all use CFDs or futures for this stuff. Basically means you're not actually owning the physical gold or oil, just betting on price movements. That's actually the advantage because you can profit whether prices go up or down. Plus500 and IG Group are solid too if you want more research tools and advanced charting. CMC Markets has like 100+ commodities available which is pretty wild.
Fees-wise, most use spreads instead of commissions which is cleaner. Some charge from 0.02% to 0.40%, others from 0.2 to 0.3 points depending on the commodity. Interactive Brokers is cheapest for high-volume traders but honestly the interface is confusing as hell for beginners. AvaTrade's better if you're just starting out.
Really depends what you're after. If you want something beginner-friendly with good tools, Mitrade or AvaTrade. If you're more advanced and want deep market access, Interactive Brokers or Saxo Bank. The key thing is picking a commodities trading platform that's regulated properly and matches your experience level. Don't just go with the cheapest option because you'll end up frustrated with the interface or missing important analysis tools.
