According to Hong Kong media outlet Oriental Daily, a 34-year-old mainland man said on May 14 that he planned to go to Hong Kong to end his life because, on a crypto trading platform where he held ALEO, he had lost about 500,000 RMB and had already exhausted all complaint channels through that platform.
Later that day, police intercepted him at a fast-food restaurant and found a lighter and suspected gasoline among his personal belongings.
Police arrested him on suspicion of possessing an item intended to damage property. The case is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.
