Kevin Warsh Wins Senate Vote to Join Fed Board in First Step to Fed Chair

The U.S. Senate voted 51-45 to approve Kevin Warsh as a governor on the Federal Reserve Board, the first step in a two-step process toward the Fed chair. Jerome Powell’s term as chair is set to end on Friday, but Jerome Powell may remain on the board because his term as governor runs until January 2028. Kevin Warsh will take the seat of Stephen Miran, which is the only board seat scheduled to become vacant during President Donald Trump’s term.
