Bitcoin Holds Near $80K as Ether, Altcoins Slide on Higher US CPI

Bitcoin traded at $80,262 and the total crypto market cap fell 1.6% to about $2.76 trillion over the past 24 hours. Ether fell 2.8% to $2,265, and most top tokens also declined as Wall Street weakened. Bureau of Labor Statistics data showed April US CPI rose 0.6% on the month and 3.8% from a year earlier, above the 3.7% Dow Jones estimate, while core CPI rose 0.4% and 2.8%. CME Group’s FedWatch tool showed a June hold was fully priced in, while SoSoValue data showed US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in $27.29 million on Monday and spot Ether ETFs lost $16.89 million.
