You know, I recently looked at the wallets of major crypto players and noticed something interesting. Buterin's wealth is just a picture of what a founder’s portfolio of a revolutionary platform might look like. Vitalik Dmitrievich Buterin, born in 1994 in Kolomna and later moved to Canada, has accumulated a fortune currently estimated at about $1.03 billion.
Interestingly, the main part of his assets is, of course, ETH. About 240,000 coins worth approximately $1.01 billion. At the current price of $2.22K, that’s really serious money. But Buterin’s wealth isn’t limited to just Ether — he also holds other assets. For example, 2,906 AETHWETH valued at around $12.2 million, 10 billion WHITE tokens worth $2.86 million, 30 billion MOODENG approximately $927,000, plus KNC and various other tokens.
His journey into crypto began back in 2011 when his father told him about Bitcoin. At that time, he was just an interested guy writing articles for Bitcoin Magazine about blockchain. But at the end of 2013, he proposed the idea of Ethereum — a platform with smart contracts. And on July 30, 2015, Ethereum officially launched after an ICO that raised $18 million.
Since then, Vitalik has turned Ethereum into the second-largest cryptocurrency after Bitcoin. He has become one of the youngest billionaires in tech. He received the Thiel Fellowship award in 2014, made it onto Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list, and Fortune’s 40 Under 40.
But what really impresses me is that Buterin isn’t just accumulating wealth. He actively spends it on good causes. He donated about a billion dollars worth of Shiba Inu tokens to a fund fighting COVID-19 in India. Supports humanitarian initiatives, medical research, refugee aid, and environmental protection.
He continues to develop Ethereum, working on Ethereum 2.0 to increase speed, improve security, and reduce energy consumption. And all this while being known for his modesty — simple clothing, no show-offs despite billions.
So, Buterin’s wealth isn’t just numbers in a wallet; it’s the result of how one person with an idea managed to change the entire ecosystem. It’s fascinating to see how all this develops further.
