How to choose between Layer 2 and the mainnet—everyone understands it: if it’s cheap and convenient, just use L2. But if you truly want that “settlement” peace of mind, you still want to go back to the mainnet. My compromise is that I try to keep most day-to-day actions on L2 (transfers, swaps, and grabbing a little profit on the side). But if it’s long-term holding, approvals are too large, or the contract is something I’m not confident about, then I’d rather pay a bit more gas to return to the mainnet—I can sleep more soundly… as long as the node doesn’t go offline, I can even doze off.
Recently, I also understand the complaints about the “nested doll” setup in that re-staking/sharing security model. The idea of stacking rewards sounds appealing, but the risks stack up too. If something goes wrong, what exactly is the penalty mechanism—who gets penalized, and how is it propagated? Frankly, it’s hard for ordinary people to figure it all out. Anyway, for now I care more about tightening up permissions, clearing approvals on a regular schedule, and not putting all my eggs into a single bridge and a pool that only *seems* very profitable. That’s where I’ll stay for now.
