Recently looked at blockchain data and realized that Vitalik Buterin's wealth is just crazy numbers. The guy who created the entire Ethereum owns a portfolio worth about $1.03 billion. I wonder how he even keeps that in his head?

Most of Vitalik Buterin's wealth, of course, is in ETH itself — 240,000 coins worth around $1.01 billion. The rest is spread across altcoins: he has about 12.2 million AETHWETH, 2.86 million WHITE coins, and even caught 927 thousand MOODENG. Plus KNC and a bunch of other tokens. A typical portfolio of someone just experimenting with the ecosystem.

Vitalik Dmitrievich Buterin was born in 1994 in Kolomna, but his family moved to Canada when he was a child. He studied at the University of Waterloo but dropped out in 2014 to focus on his project. He learned about Bitcoin from his father back in 2011 and has never been able to detach from cryptocurrencies since.

What amazes me about his story is the speed at which he developed everything. He participated in creating Bitcoin Magazine, wrote about blockchain, and then at the end of 2013 proposed the idea of Ethereum as a platform for smart contracts. And on July 30, 2015, the network launched. They raised $18 million in an ICO and started changing everything.

This guy literally created the second-largest digital asset in the world. DeFi, NFT, decentralized applications — all grew out of his idea. He received the Thiel Fellowship award in 2014 ($100,000), then made it to Forbes 30 Under 30 and Fortune 40 Under 40. An ordinary path for a genius, nothing unusual.

But what’s really interesting is that he doesn’t look like a typical crypto billionaire. Known for his modesty, wears simple clothes despite billions in his portfolio. Focused on social and technological impact, not on accumulating money. Believes in decentralization and free access to finance. Donated millions to medical research, refugee support, environmental protection.

When Ethereum first launched, one coin was worth just $0.31. Now the price has reached $2.23k. It’s just unreal. Buterin became one of the youngest billionaires in tech, yet continues actively working on network development. Oversees Ethereum 2.0, focusing on increasing transaction speed, improving security, and reducing energy consumption.

His philanthropy is also impressive — he donated about a billion dollars to COVID-19 relief funds in India, supports humanitarian and research initiatives worldwide. Vitalik Buterin’s wealth isn’t just money; it’s a tool for changing the world. A rare case where wealth doesn’t corrupt a person.
