It turns out that creating a token on Solana is much easier than it seems and costs almost nothing. I've been looking into how Pump.Fun works, and honestly, in less than a minute, you can have your own coin up and running. The interesting part is that some tokens really explode. Do you remember the MADRE token they released in honor of Iggy Azalea recently? It started at $0.0005 and reached $0.24. Some people invested $900 and made $600,000. Another person invested $3,000 and made $9 million. So yes, it happens. But most tokens are complete scams that disappear in minutes.
Why is Pump.Fun the place to create tokens? First, because it's on Solana and the fees are ridiculous, literally it costs $3 to create your coin. If it doesn’t work out, you sell what you bought and almost recover everything. Second, because the platform has protections against scammers. When you create a token there, you can't add weird functions like disabling sales or imposing 99% taxes. The developers already thought of that. Also, on each token page, you can see who the biggest holders are, so before buying, you can check if there are suspicious wallets holding large amounts of the asset.
The process is literal: you need a Phantom-type wallet, a few dollars in Solana, connect to Pump.Fun, click the create token button, enter the name, symbol, description, logo, and that's it. Confirm in your wallet and you're done. After that, your token has its own page with a chart, holders, and a chat where people talk. If the community is active, that’s a good sign. The important thing is the bonding curve: when it reaches $69,000, Pump.Fun automatically sends it to Raydium, which is Solana’s main DEX. That’s when many sell to take profits, so the price usually drops. But if new people come in who believe in the project, it can keep rising.
About airdrops: the platform never officially confirmed that there will be future token distributions, but it’s in the pinned messages on Discord. If you want to increase your chances, use the platform regularly, at least once a week. Buy and sell even small amounts but with decent volume, minimum $50 to $100. If you transact tiny amounts, they might blacklist you. It’s also good to try creating a token yourself a couple of times; it’s cheap. And keep between $50 and $100 in your Solana wallet because sometimes, when they distribute tokens, they delete addresses with very low balances.
What I can tell you for sure: most of these tokens are total scams. Hundreds appear every second on Pump.Fun. Only some explode; most drop to zero. So if you’re going to play with this, do it knowing you’ll probably lose. The important thing is not to obsess over thinking you’ll be the next one to make millions. That happens, but it’s rare. More often, you lose money.
