Deep Tide TechFlow News, May 15th, according to The Block, the Myanmar military government released a draft of the "Anti-Online Fraud Law," proposing to sentence those who force others to engage in online scams to the death penalty, and those operating scam centers or engaging in cryptocurrency scams to life imprisonment. The draft also suggests establishing a dedicated committee responsible for international cooperation to combat scam activities, with Myanmar's parliament expected to review the bill in early June. Previously, the U.S. Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions in September 2025 on multiple entities in Myanmar and Cambodia suspected of crypto investment scams. FBI data shows that in 2025, losses from cryptocurrency-related scams reached up to $11.4 billion, accounting for more than half of all internet crime losses.
