Mining Bitcoin on a home computer is no longer an option, but you know, there are a few other cryptocurrencies that you can really mine at home if you're not lazy. I recently looked into which cryptocurrencies can be mined without any super setups.
Dogecoin — now that's funny. It was just a meme at first, but then it became a normal currency with a solid user base. DOGE has an interesting mechanic — new coins are added every year, unlike Bitcoin with its cap. To mine, you need a wallet, then a CPU miner if you're using a processor, but the speed will be pretty low. It's better to use an AMD or Nvidia graphics card with cgminer. You can mine solo, but it's more profitable in a pool — higher speed and income. After mining, you can sell the coins on major exchanges.
Ethereum Classic — an interesting case. When the main Ethereum switched to PoS in 2022, ETC took it as a gift. All the power that was previously used for ETH was redirected to ETC. You can mine it on a regular PC, although ASIC machines are also suitable. Then you sell it on major platforms.
Bitcoin Gold — this is a fork of the original Bitcoin from 2017. The project has quieted down a bit, but capitalization and trading volumes are still decent. It uses Equihash-BTG, and the price usually moves together with BTC. These are the cryptocurrencies you can mine at home — no need for some space-age setups. When choosing which cryptocurrencies to mine from this list, base your decision on your equipment. After mining BTG, you'll easily find buyers on major platforms.
