Deep Tide TechFlow News, May 15, according to The Block, a group of plaintiffs holding judgments from U.S. courts against Iran for terrorism filed a motion on Thursday with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, seeking to compel Tether to zero out a total of approximately 344.1 million USDT in two wallet addresses related to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that have been listed on OFAC’s sanctions list, and to reissue an equivalent amount of USDT to the wallets designated by the plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs argue that Tether has the technical capability and bears the corresponding legal obligations under New York State transfer laws and federal anti-terrorism enforcement regulations, citing precedents in which Tether previously cooperated with FBI seizure warrants to carry out token destruction and reissuance in the Ohio case. The total judgment amount the plaintiffs seek is approximately $2.42 billion, covering compensatory and punitive damages for multiple Iran terrorism cases over a period of more than 20 years. Tether froze the relevant wallets on April 24 of this year, the same day that OFAC added them to the sanctions list.
