Recently, I was doing some account testing and realized that using a code reception service can really save a lot of trouble.
In the past, I had to buy a new SIM card every time, which was so annoying, and then I found out there are dedicated virtual number platforms that can receive verification codes, saving me a lot of money.
I've personally encountered many pitfalls—some platforms are extremely slow, and some simply don't receive SMS messages.
In the end, I summarized a few decent code reception services to share with everyone.
SMS-Activate is particularly fast to use, with verification codes arriving within about 10 seconds, and it covers many countries, making it suitable for people who frequently do cross-border testing.
5SIM has a clean interface, clear API documentation, and works well for registering accounts on Google, Twitter, and similar platforms.
If you're mainly using it domestically, Super Cloud SMS and Little Bird Code are also good options; their speeds for US and domestic numbers are quite decent, though they can be a bit slow during peak times.
Getsmscode is cheap, but it's more suitable for light usage scenarios.
There are a few pitfalls to avoid when using code reception platforms:
Some numbers are shared, which can easily trigger risk controls;
Verification codes may be delayed, especially for less common apps;
Most importantly, don’t use them as your main long-term number—privacy and security cannot be guaranteed.
My experience is that if you're just testing APIs, choosing any platform that supports API integration is enough.
But if you need stable registration on a certain overseas website, it's best to buy multiple numbers at once so you can switch quickly if some become invalid.
Some platforms also support one-click number switching, which is particularly practical.
Overall, SMS-Activate and 5SIM are the most stable in terms of overall performance, with low latency and reliable platforms.
When choosing a code reception service, don’t just go for the cheapest—platforms with good reputation and high activity levels are truly more worry-free.
