Recently, while doing account verification testing, I discovered that there are actually so many number receiving platforms available. I’ve run into issues before—some platforms simply don’t receive texts at all, others have ridiculous delays. Only later did I figure out which ones are reliable. Basically, it’s about renting a virtual number temporarily to receive verification codes, which means no need to get a new SIM card and no worries about privacy leaks. It’s quite convenient for testers.
The main number receiving platforms I use are these: SMS-Activate is the fastest, usually arriving within 10 seconds, and it covers all countries; Super Cloud SMS offers good US and Chinese number segments, though it can be slow during peak times; 5SIM’s API documentation is clear, making it suitable for bulk integration; Xiaoniao receives codes very quickly—within 5-15 seconds—but sometimes encounters risk control numbers; Getsmscode is cheap but a bit slow, suitable for non-urgent cases.
When using number receiving platforms, be aware that shared numbers are easily reused, and obscure apps might not receive texts. It’s recommended to prepare several numbers just in case. Don’t use them as your main number, since privacy and security can’t be fully guaranteed. If you’re just testing interfaces, you can choose any platform. But if you plan to register long-term on an overseas website, it’s best to pick one that supports “one-click number switching,” so you can switch immediately if a number becomes invalid. How do you usually handle account verification?
