I just reviewed Charlotte Fang's history, and honestly, it's a roller coaster worth analyzing. This figure has built one of the most interesting NFT ecosystems in the market, although her path has been anything but conventional.
Fang started in the NFT world in 2021 with a project called Yayo that didn't take off. But that didn't stop her. Then came Milady Maker in August 2021, a neo-chibi collection of 10,000 NFTs on Ethereum that sold out quickly. By April 2022, the base price reached 1.55 ETH. Everything seemed to be going perfectly until a scandal erupted in May 2022 when controversial comments associated with Fang's account came to light. The price plummeted, but she publicly admitted it and apologized, acknowledging that it was a toxic burden for the community.
What's interesting is that Milady Maker spectacularly rebounded in May 2023 when Elon Musk tweeted about the meme. The price recovered, even surpassing previous highs. By then, Milady had become the third most expensive PFP collection of 10,000 NFTs. Today, with a base price of 4.90 ETH, it remains one of the most traded collections.
But Charlotte Fang didn't stop with Milady. Earlier this year, she launched $CULT, a meme coin that reached an FDV of over $845 million at launch. The team distributed 10 billion tokens, with more than 50% allocated to the "Cult Fund." Holders of Milady and Redacted Remilio Babies received an exclusive airdrop.
Now, here’s where things get interesting from a market perspective. The project that once had an FDV of $339 million has experienced a significant correction. As I write this, $CULT is trading considerably lower than its initial levels, with a market cap reflecting a different reality from the launch. This demonstrates something many in the NFT space tend to forget: even the most hyped projects can face market pressure.
What is notable is how Charlotte Fang has managed to stay relevant despite the controversies. Her ability to build cult communities around her projects is undeniable. Milady Maker remains a benchmark collection, and although $CULT has experienced volatility, the experiment itself was bold.
If you're following the NFT and meme project space, it's worth understanding how these ecosystems work. You can check the details of these projects directly on platforms like Gate to see where the market stands right now. Charlotte Fang's story and Remilia Corporation serve as a reminder that in crypto, resilience and adaptability are as important as the initial hype.
