North Korea-Linked Crypto Theft Hit $2.02B in 2025, Up 51%

CrowdStrike’s 2026 Financial Services Threat Landscape Report said North Korea-linked hackers stole $2.02 billion in crypto in 2025, up 51% from 2024. CrowdStrike said the groups used AI-generated identities and fake recruiter profiles to target crypto exchanges, fintech firms, and retail banks. CrowdStrike also counted 423 financial services victims on dedicated leak sites during the reporting period, a 27% annual increase.
