Spanish Health Minister: All remaining evacuees from the epidemic cruise ship will fly to the Netherlands

Spanish Minister of Health Monica Garcia said on the 11th that the cruise ship “Hondius” involved in the hantavirus outbreak has basically completed evacuation and transfer, and the last more than 20 personnel will all fly to the Netherlands on the afternoon of the 11th local time.
Garcia stated at a press conference held at Granadilla Port in Tenerife that, as originally planned, two planes were expected to arrive in Spain that afternoon, one from Australia and one from the Netherlands. But ultimately, passengers originally scheduled to take the Australian flight will also evacuate on the Dutch flight.
Garcia introduced that 94 passengers and crew members on the cruise ship disembarked at Granadilla Port on the 10th and took different flights back to their respective origins. She said that with the last batch of evacuees disembarking, the related evacuation operation will be basically completed, and only some crew members will remain on board to steer the cruise ship to the Netherlands. After the cruise ship departs, Spain will also carry out disinfection work in relevant port areas.
Garcia said that 14 Spanish passengers and crew members on the ship had arrived in Madrid on the 10th and will undergo quarantine and observation locally until mid-June.
The “Hondius” is operated by the Dutch-based company “Fanhai Exploration,” mainly engaged in polar expedition cruise business. (Xinhua)
