The Myanmar government plans to introduce the "Anti-Cyber Fraud Law," which will impose the death penalty on criminals who force others to participate in online scams or cryptocurrency scam operations through violence, torture, illegal detention, and other means. The bill also proposes that operators of scam zones or those who carry out crypto scams can be sentenced to life imprisonment. The law is expected to be reviewed after the Myanmar parliament reconvenes in June. Previously, Myanmar leader Min Aung Hlaing had just reduced the nationwide death penalty to life imprisonment in April. (Protos)
