I looked at the list of the richest athletes in the world and was amazed by some of the figures 😱
The top is clearly led by basketball players and former sports organization executives. Michael Jordan with his 3.6 billion is on a different level — he’s a legend who continued earning even after retiring. Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are also among the richest athletes in the world, but their fortunes are much more modest compared to Jordan’s.
Interestingly, the wealthiest athletes are often those who invested in businesses and franchises, not just lived off their salaries. LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, Roger Federer — all have invested in various projects, and it has paid off many times over.
Footballers like Beckham and Neymar also earned well, but their 450 million looks more modest compared to the top names. By the way, there are even women on the list — Serena Williams with 300 million shows that tennis was a good investment.
The richest athletes in the world are mainly those who managed to turn their sports status into a long-term business. It’s just interesting to see who else might make it there in the coming years.
