He Xiaopeng: The growth rate of the robotics industry will surpass that of new energy vehicles, and next year, 10% of Xiaopeng’s sales work will be done by robots

Sina Technology, April 24th, noon news, the 2026 Beijing Auto Show opens today, Xiaopeng Group Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng spoke with the media.

Talking about the robotics business, He Xiaopeng said that Xiaopeng started delivering cars in 2019, and robots will be mass-produced by the end of 2026, with full commercial sales beginning in 2027. It is expected that their initial performance will far exceed that of Xiaopeng Motors in 2019. Currently, most robots have not yet truly realized the core value of “helping people,” but starting next year, a few robots capable of effectively assisting in daily life will achieve mass production.

“I believe that after robots are mass-produced, their growth speed and scale expansion will surpass that of new energy vehicles in China — from 2014 to 2019 was a period of rapid development for China’s new energy vehicles, and from 2019 to 2024 is a period of high-speed growth. I believe that after 2027, in the next five years, China’s robotics industry will enter a period of rapid development globally, ushering in significant transformation.”

He mentioned that last year, the sales of humanoid robots in China were only over 10k units. Xiaopeng’s goal is to significantly exceed this number by 2027. By the end of this year, everyone will see Xiaopeng’s robot products: they can achieve human-like language interaction, full range of motion, and possess certain professional skills.

He Xiaopeng revealed that in the robotics field, Xiaopeng’s first entry point is “making sales simpler.” For example, in store scenarios, next year, 10% of sales work will be done by robots — they can explain Xiaopeng’s product highlights to users, and when users want to test drive, the task is handed over to human staff; when users need to sign contracts, professional personnel will follow up. “I believe that in the future, humans will engage more in high-level, creative work, while boring, repetitive, simple, dangerous jobs that no one wants to do will be delegated to robots.”
