I just realized that many people in the crypto community still don’t fully understand the slang that’s trending in the market. Not all of them are complicated technical terms—actually, they’re just the way traders talk to each other every day.

Take Hopium, for example. This word is a combination of hope and opium, describing a situation where you’re overly optimistic about a token even though everyone is saying it will fail. I’m sure you’ve heard someone say, “This altcoin will be the next Bitcoin,” even with zero evidence—that’s hopium.

But what is copium? It shows up when that hopium wears off. When the project you believe in starts struggling, instead of admitting you were wrong, you look for copium—a way to comfort yourself with other reasons. “Yeah, this token failed, but it’s fine—I’ll buy Bitcoin instead”—that’s copium. It’s a blend of cope and opium, a psychological mechanism that helps us accept failure.

Then there’s Diamond Hands and Paper Hands. People with Diamond Hands are steadfast investors who hold their positions even if the market collapses. On the other hand, Paper Hands are panic sellers the moment the price drops a little out of fear. These two types of people always exist in every market cycle.

BTFD is short for “Buy The F***ing Dip”—basically, when the price drops, you buy more. It’s a strategy of people who believe the price will recover. Permabulls are always optimistic, while Permabears are always pessimistic, no matter what the evidence says.

And Pumpamentals is a combination of pump and fundamentals. It refers to tokens that have nothing but hype—like memecoins—being pumped up purely for speculation rather than any real value.

WAGMI — We’re All Going to Make It — is a community mantra. It’s not an economic theory, but a collective belief, a way to encourage each other when the market is tough.

Finally, Safu is simply “safe” written in slang. When projects say, “The fund is safu,” they’re trying to reassure investors that their money is safe.

In fact, these words say a lot about trading psychology—from irrational optimism to psychological self-defense mechanisms. Everyone goes through it; no one is an exception. WAGMI.
