BOJ board member Takata calls for early rate hike if economy stays stable

Bank of Japan board member Hajime Takata said Japan should raise interest rates as soon as possible if data does not clearly show an economic downturn. Takata said the conflict in Iran is making inflation risks more persistent. Takata said higher fuel prices could also add to Japan’s already rising logistics costs.
