I just looked into who holds the most bitcoins worldwide, and the results are really interesting. Of course, Satoshi Nakamoto is at the top with about 1.1 million BTC that have remained untouched since the early days. That's just wild – no one really knows if these coins will ever be moved.
What surprised me: institutional actors are now playing a huge role. BlackRock holds over 300,000 BTC, demonstrating how much traditional financial giants are investing in Bitcoin. Then there are large asset managers and specialized crypto investment firms, each with over 260,000 BTC. MicroStrategy with its 226,500 BTC under Michael Saylor is also noteworthy – the company is fully committed to Bitcoin as a treasury reserve.
It's also interesting that governments are now among the top holders. The USA holds over 213,000 BTC mainly from seizures, and even China sits on about 190,000 BTC. When you look at who holds the most bitcoins today, it becomes clear: it’s no longer just individual hodlers, but institutions, management companies, and even countries viewing Bitcoin as a strategic asset. This shows how seriously Bitcoin is now being taken.
